Meanwhile, the Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a social media user for filming and publishing videos showing air defense systems engaging missiles. The Ministry said the content constituted a violation that could compromise public interest and security requirements. Authorities also found that the individual had been using a mobile phone while driving when recording the footage, resulting in a traffic accident and further violations of applicable laws and regulations.
The Ministry stressed that publishing or circulating images and videos related to military or security sites, as well as field response and readiness operations, is irresponsible conduct that may harm public interests. It reaffirmed its commitment to taking firm legal action against violators and urged citizens and residents to comply with all regulations and official instructions, particularly in light of the exceptional circumstances facing the country and the region.
In a separate statement, the Ministry of Health’s official spokesperson, Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad, announced that ministry hospitals had received 63 injured individuals since the early hours following the Iranian attack. He said seven patients underwent major emergency surgeries, while several others received minor surgical procedures and treatment for various injuries. Medical teams continue to monitor patients requiring intensive care and advanced medical intervention. Al-Sanad explained that the distribution of cases among hospitals was carried out in accordance with national emergency response plans to ensure the continuity of healthcare services and optimal use of available medical resources and specialized capacities.
The injuries involved civilians, employees at Kuwait International Airport and travelers, and varied in severity. Reported cases included shrapnel and blast-related injuries, fractures, head trauma, cerebral hemorrhages, amputations and injuries requiring urgent specialized surgery. Several patients also suffered smoke inhalation and blast-wave-related injuries. He noted that emergency medical and ambulance teams were dispatched immediately upon receiving reports of the incident at Kuwait International Airport.
Rapid field assessments and triage procedures were conducted, enabling urgent medical care and the transfer of patients to hospitals according to established emergency response protocols. Al-Sanad added that the health sector activated its operational emergency plans immediately after the incident. Medical, nursing, technical and administrative personnel were mobilized, while readiness levels were raised across emergency departments, operating rooms, intensive care units, blood banks, diagnostic services and support units in coordination with relevant state agencies.
He affirmed that Kuwait’s healthcare system demonstrated a high degree of preparedness and capability in responding to major incidents and exceptional circumstances, reflecting the coordinated efforts of health institutions and government agencies. Al-Sanad concluded by expressing his wishes for the swift recovery of all those injured and for the continued safety and security of Kuwait and its people. — KUNA
