MANAMA: Bahrain’s Interior Ministry announced Saturday that security authorities had dismantled an organization allegedly linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and arrested 41 suspected members. In a statement, the ministry said the operation followed previous investigations conducted by the Public Prosecution in cases involving espionage on behalf of foreign entities and expressions of support for what it described as Iranian aggression. The ministry said security services had uncovered an organization connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, referring to Iran’s ideological military force and confirmed that 41 suspects had been taken into custody. Bahrain has long accused Iran of interfering in its internal affairs. Human rights activist Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei said earlier on X that Bahraini authorities had carried out arrests targeting “some of the country’s most prominent religious figures.” Alwadaei, who is affiliated with the London-based Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, described the move as unprecedented in scale, saying similar measures had not been witnessed even during the height of the 2011 unrest. Meanwhile, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Fahad Al-Yousef Al-Sabah affirmed Saturday that Kuwait stands firmly with Bahrain and fully supports all security measures taken to preserve the kingdom’s security and stability. According to an official statement, both sides emphasized the deep-rooted historical and brotherly ties between Kuwait and Bahrain, underscoring the importance of continued coordination and security cooperation in support of regional stability. Separately, Kuwait’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed full solidarity with Bahrain and support for the measures taken in uncovering the alleged cell linked to the Revolutionary Guards. In a statement, the ministry praised the vigilance and efficiency of Bahraini security services in confronting plots targeting the kingdom’s security and reaffirmed Kuwait’s support for all actions aimed at safeguarding Bahrain’s sovereignty and stability.– Agencies
