KUWAIT: Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior announced on Friday that the Residency Affairs Investigations Department had dismantled a five-member criminal network of Bangladeshi nationals involved in forging government revenue stamps and selling them illegally to expatriates and companies.

In a press statement, the ministry said the operation was carried out as part of ongoing security efforts by the Criminal Security Sector, represented by the General Department of Criminal Investigations, following extensive surveillance and information gathering. Investigations revealed that the suspects had been promoting counterfeit government stamps inside and outside hospitals, selling KD 5 and KD 10 stamps at prices below their official value to generate illicit financial gains.

The ministry added that search and seizure operations led to the discovery of a laptop computer, a printer and specialized stamp paper rolls used in the forgery process. Further investigations showed that the suspects had stolen official stamp paper rolls from a hospital and used them to produce counterfeit stamps.

Legal measures have been taken against the suspects, who were referred, along with the seized items, to the competent authorities for further action. The Ministry of Interior reaffirmed its commitment to continuing security campaigns against anyone attempting to tamper with public funds or forge official documents, stressing that all necessary legal measures will be taken against those involved. — KUNA
