KUWAIT: Kuwait experienced unsettled weather conditions on Monday evening as thunderstorms affected the northern regions, accompanied by dust-raising winds, reduced visibility, and rough sea conditions, according to the Meteorological Department.

Acting Director of the Meteorological Department Dharar Al-Ali said weather maps and satellite imagery showed the country was under the influence of a low-pressure system moving in from the northwest. The system has led to an increase in low and medium-level cloud cover, including cumulonimbus clouds, which triggered thunderstorms over northern areas.

Al-Ali explained that rainfall was accompanied by moderate to brisk southeasterly winds that gradually shifted to northwesterly winds, resulting in the lifting of dust and a noticeable drop in horizontal visibility in several regions.

He added that the windy conditions also caused high sea waves, affecting marine activity. The department expects dust-raising winds to continue until Tuesday evening, with generally light to moderate winds becoming occasionally active, maintaining unstable weather conditions across parts of the country.
